The #MeToo movement is coming to your doctor's office.
Antiquated, outdated, dogmatic, and founded on violence, something needs to change within gynecology.
With rampant misogyny, misinformation, and sexual violence, a serious lack of informed consent, and no accountability for healthcare providers in sight, We Deserve Better aims to be that change and empower you to be too.
through offering peer-to-peer support, helping patients find independent patient advocates and legal help, and taking our power back through education about topics such as informed consent, trauma-informed care, and what is and is not appropriate and evidence-based.
Its time for the #MeToo movement to reach the doctor's office.'
We believe everyone deserves to make informed decisions about their health, and to be able to make them free from coercion, misinformation, and the financial motivations of strangers.
We value above all else informed consent, bodily autonomy, open and honest dialogue about reproductive health and the serious issues that plague gynecology today, and holding providers who act inappropriately accountable.
We Deserve Better started in 2018 as a small community on Reddit and has now grown to over 7000 members, spawned a YouTube channel, TikTok page, and blog, and became the first entirely patient-led, owned, and operated grassroots organization for reproductive health and patient rights.
We envision a world where every woman and AFAB person has access to up-to-date, evidence-based, trauma-informed care that centers around bodily autonomy and informed consent, offers appropriate pain relief, and is free from misogyny.
Some steps we are taking to see that vision become a reality include offering the world's largest peer-to-peer support group for survivors of medical trauma, sexual assault, and gynecological violence. educational resources teaching about patient rights and reproductive health.
And grassroots efforts to introduce legislation to improve reproductive healthcare and hold providers and health organizations alike accountable.
